Metro Arts Presents: Capoeira Exchange

Join us for an afternoon of movement and music as we explore the beautiful, entrancing practice of Capoeira. Audience participation is welcome! Short, informal capoeira instruction will be offered at the beginning of the event.

Featuring special guest instructors Professora Borrachinha and Professora Sarara.

  • 12:45pm Meet in front of Starbucks, then a procession through the waiting room
  • 1:00 – 1:30pm Classes for beginners and separate warm-ups for the more experienced
  • 1:30 – 4:00pm Roda

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that incorporates dance, song, music and oral history. Its roots are traced back to various countries in Africa, and was developed by African slaves in Brazil. Join us for an afternoon of movement and music as we explore this Afro-Brazilian practice.
