The Roaring Twenties-inspired event invites guests to celebrate the new year with a full spectrum of entertainment, including a headlining DJ set by the pioneering 80s tinged electrofunk sounds from CHROMEO, live jazz ensemble Lyndsay & the All-Nighters, performances from acclaimed burlesque troupe Concrete Entertainment, a premium open bar for all guests and more. Please be advised of the following important information from Metrolink, Amtrak and Pacific Surfliner regarding travel advisories for the train service shutdown from December 26 to 29, 2023.

Los Angeles Union Station will remain open during this time as other transit providers continue to serve the station including LA Metro light rail and subway service, Amtrak bus connections, LAX FlyAway bus service, LADOT and municipal bus routes. Union Station restaurants and businesses will also remain open.

Amtrak and Pacific Surfliner will provide bus bridge service to supplement train service. Transportation service providers will have customer service teams throughout the station to assist passengers and answer questions.

Mapping Performance: 10 Years Of Metro Art Presents

Metro Art Presents will commemorate 10 years of arts and cultural programming inspired by the greater Los Angeles area and the people it serves each day. Hosted at Los Angeles Union Station, MAPPING Performance: 10 Years of Metro Art Presents will celebrate with percussion-driven music and dance drawing from Southeast Asian and Afro-Brazilian traditions, bringing the community together in the heart of Los Angeles at the heart of the LA Metro transit system.

Saturday, June 24 will feature Southeast Asian traditions and diasporic artists who bring their cultural backgrounds into contemporary practices, while Sunday, June 25 – which will be highly participatory – will highlight Afro-Brazilian traditions, such as capoeira, which blends music, dance, and acrobatics, as well as samba-reggae. From dancers to DJs to rock bands, Metro Art Presents invites the community to witness how Angelenos draw from their varied cultural backgrounds and traditions to create contemporary performing arts. Get in the summer spirit at the next Metro Art Presents event featuring a live activation of the magical-realist, LA-loving and transit-centric film Summertime at Union Station through poetry performance, live music and more. Conceived by filmmaker/director Carlos López Estrada in collaboration with young poets with roots in Get Lit: Words Ignite, Summertime takes place over the course of an imagined summer day during a heatwave as the lives of 27 young Angelenos intersect to weave in and out of each other’s stories across the city.

At 7:30 p.m., Summertime transitions indoors to kick off with verses performed live by the film’s featured poets Marquesha Babers, Mila Cuda, Paolina Acuña-Gonzalez and Anna Osuna and a music set by multifaceted performance artist Austin Antoine, who stars as Rah in the film. The film runs 1 hour and 35 minutes following the opening performances.

Flora Urbana is an exploration of the anthropogenic environments in which we live. With the intention to dissolve the illusory barriers between humans and nature, Green-House utilized field recordings of small pockets of “natural” sounds as they walked through densely populated city parks. The field recordings are blended with software synthesizers, samplers, and virtual instruments to symbolize the potential harmony that can be achieved between us and the rest of the ecosystem.
